Mangaluru, Apr 16: Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo along with MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on Saturday April 16 inaugurated the newly-constructed road near Shree Suryanarayana Temple, Maroli. The road was build in a short span of just 15 days.

The road has been constructed at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore with grants under State Finance Commission and the 14th Finance Commission. The work includes widening and tarring of 24-ft wide road on a stretch of about 1 km.
Addressing the gathering, J R Lobo said, “Suryanarayana Temple is am ancient and historic temple. It has been renovated and Bramhakalashotsava will be held from April 17. People of this region had requested me to widen and construct a new road. Responding to their demand, the MCC and I initiated this work. This was a narrow road, but now with the cooperation of the people of this area, this has turned out to be a model for the entire city.

“Temples, churches and mosques are our heritage. We should give utmost respect to all religious places. Only then will the people of the region prosper. I thank contractor M G Hussein who has completed the whole work of widening, restoring and construction of road within a short span of 15 days. Suryanarayana temple has been renovated beautifully, and I wish the temple becomes a tourist attraction in the coming days. I thank the locals, mayor, opposition leader and all who have contributed in developing this road,” he added.

Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel said, “This is an interior road which connects two major national highways. Under the leadership of MLA J R Lobo this road has been constructed beautifully. This is a model road as it has been built in such a short span of time. I congratulate all the people who have contributed in making this work possible.”

Mayor Harinath, Local corporator Keshav Maroli, congress leader T K Sudhir, Vinayraj and others were present.
