Mangaluru, May 05: With the situation at Thumbay dam hinting at greater trouble, Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo prayed for divine intervention by visiting a temple, a Church and a Masjid, on Thursday.

Starting off his ‘pilgrimage for rains’ from Mangaladevi Temple, he then went to Bishop’s house chapel in Kodialbail and Jamia Masjid in Boloor.

In all the places special prayers were offered for the rains.

Speaking to reporters at Nadupalli Jamia Masjid, J R Lobo said that it is not just the city which is facing water scarcity, but the entire state is reeling under this problem.

“The prayers are being held for the well-being of the state. The rivers are drying and there are no traces of pre-monsoon showers,” he said hoping that the prayers would be heard and answered.

Congress leaders, KPCC member Masood, TK Sudhir, corporators Prakash Salyan, Lancelot Pinto and others were present.
