Mangaluru, Dec 23, 2014: Mangalore Diocese Bishop Rev Aloysius Paul D’Souza handed over 24 houses to the needy, in name of ‘Mariakripa Housing project, at Kunjattur village of Manjeshwar taluk in Kasaragod district on Monday.
This is first phase of Mangalore Diocese’s free site and house distribution project.
Speaking after handing over keys to beneficiaries, Mangalore Bishop said that under this new project, the diocese has planned to give free house or sites to needy. In the first phase 24 houses have been built, he said.
The residential complex was built by Marian Infrastructures Director Naveen Curdoza and his team and his team on 35 cents of land in the premises of Mari ashram Church. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1.50 crore. The 550 square feet, single bed room houses have all basic facilities including 24-hour water supply and electricity.
Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo said that during 125th anniversary of Mangalore diocese, Christmas has been celebrated in a meaningful manner by helping the needy.
Diocese Council Secretary MP Noronha also spoke.
Marian Infrastructures Director Naveen Curdoza was felicitated on the occasion.
