Mangalore Aug 30: Ganeshotsava must be celebrated to build communal harmony between various caste and religion. Through this we must make an effort to set up a strengthened society said Dinesh Gundu Rao, the Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies.
He was speaking after inaugurating the religious programme held at Bunts Hostel, Omkara Nagara organized by Sri Siddi Vinayaka Prathistana and Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshothsava Samithi.
Rao further said that, people of Bunt Community are creative and has achieved their goal in various fields. They have actively participated in the society’s financial, political and societal growth. They have been involved themselves in strengthening the society from 100 years ago.
Participating as the chief guest State Forest Minister B Ramanath Rai said that, the future India must convert itself to the country of harmony.
MLA J R Lobo said that, Ganesh Chaturthi is the festival of uniting people, irrespective of caste and religion.
Chief Guest, Dr Fr Rev Santhosh Kamath SJ, Renowned doctor Dr Hamsraj Alva, Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu, S L Bhoje Gowda, wished the programme to be a success.
M Mohan Alva, Shankar Mohan Poonja, Karunakaran, Seetharam Jaanu Shetty, Krishna Kumar Poonja and Deeksha Poonja were honoured on the occasion for their achievement in various fields.
Sri Siddi Vinayaka Prathistana managing Trustee, Ajit Kumar Rai Malady welcomed the guests and gathering and delivered the introductory speech. Purushottham Bhandary Adyar and Vijaya Bharathi Shetty compered the programme. Samithi’s general secretary Diwakar Samani proposed vote of thanks.
