MANGALORE: Children and senior citizens came out in large numbers to take part in celebration cycle ride 2013 here on Sunday. J R Lobo, Mangalore City South MLA inaugurated the rally organised by Medikit, Kanchana Hyundai and Rao Associates, Mangalore, with a goal to promote Mangalore Dasara and also to promote the concept of good health. They took to pedalling from Sri Gokarnanatha Temple in Kudroli to Canara Boy’s High School.
The participants – aged from seven to sixty-five years – pedalled the 7-km stretch from the temple to Canara Boy’s High School, at Dongarakeri (Kodialbail) via Lady Hill Circle, Lalbagh Junction, Bejai (KSRTC) main road, Jail Road, Pinto’s Lane, Tejasvini Hospital, Bunts Hostel, PVS Circle and Navabharath Circle They pedalled in five groups with each group having 700 participants. All the participants wore the celebration cycle ride T-shirts.
At the valedictory function, a lucky dip draw was organized to select the three winners. Hrea Gaur won the prize among women and Srinivas Rao and Habib won one cycle each among the men. Prizes were distributed to the winners on the occasion.
