Mangalore: “Education forms a strong foundation and makes students valuable people for the society. There are millions in our country who are deprived of education,” said J.R. Lobo, MLA, Mangalore South.
He was speaking at the 134th college day of St Aloysius College Mangalore on Friday, March 7 on the college grounds.
Lobo further said that education must be available to all. And the ones who receive education must make the best use of the opportunity. It is not just intelligence that make people successful but determination. Quality education is that which shapes a student’s goal and helps in contributing to the country. Consistency in practice is the best way to achieve success in life.
“Reinvent yourself and invent the future. Jesuit education believes in forming men and women for society. We need to look at the problem with a new dimension,” said Rev.Fr. Denzil Lobo SJ, President, College.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. A. M. Narahari, Convener, said “134th college day symbolizes the youthful ambition, the passionate dreams and the undying spirit of the institute to impart quality education to millions of students every passing year.”
Rev. Fr. Denzil Lobo SJ, Rector St Aloysius Institutions presided as the president of the programme, Rev. Fr. Swebert D’silva SJ, Principal of the college, Dr. A.M. Narahari, Convenor of the programme Dr. George Rodrigues, Co Convenor, Mr. Ponnanna NT, President, Students council were present on the occasion.
Cultural and entertainment programme was one of the highlights of the college day. Veera gaase of Uttara kannada, Lavani of Maharastra, Laasya Lahari a treatise on the life of Lord Krishna, semi classical and western dances were performed by the students of the college. The college day was attended by the guests, staff, the students and their parents.
