MLA J R Lobo laid the foundation stone for 16 flood control works undertaken by the Dept of Minor Irrigation with assistance from NABARD in various wards of Mangaluru South Constituency.. These works will be undertaken in 10 wards coming under the ambit of the constituency at a cost of Rs. 3.40 crores. Based on the recommendations of J R Lobo the department of Minor Irrigation has sanctioned these projects under the NABARD scheme. He laid the foundation stone for building protection wall at a cost of 25 lakhs at Paduvu East ward. Rs 45 lakhs is earmarked for constructing embankment and protection wall at Alape North Ward, 25 lakhs each for building protection wall at Bajal 53 ward, 48 Kankanady Valencia Ward and Alape South Ward. Similarly Embankment and protection wall will be built at a cost of Rs. 50 lakhs at Padavu East ward and work on building protection wall at a cost of 25 lakhs in Maroli Ward will also been taken up under this programme.
Speaking on the occasion J R Lobo pointed out that he has already drawn the attention of the government on the need to sanction additional funds for undertaking various developmental works in the constituency. He also stated that more funds are expected to be released in the near future which will give an impetus for more and more developmental works in the constituency.
