Mangaluru, August 12: The District level competition and exhibition (Inspire Awards) of various science models designed by the Dakshina Kannada district Higher Primary and High School students was inaugurated on Tuesday, August 11th at the Scouts Bhavan here.
The science models exhibition will commence from August 11th till August 14th at the Urva Canara High School here.
Department of Science and Technology, government of India, New Delhi, state education research and training directorate Bengaluru, Dakshina Kannada District Education and training institute (DIET) Mangaluru under their joint association, the science model exhibition is organized.
Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat president Asha Thimmappa Gowda inaugurated the event and said, let the ideals of Late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, inspire new dreams among the science students.
MLA J R Lobo presiding over the program said, if the attitude of questioning develops among the students, the interest towards science will also develop naturally, he said.
MLC Ivan D’Souza, MLA Capt. Ganesh Karnik, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, MCC member Jayanti Aachar, Director of Pilikula Science Centre Dr K V Rao, Canara High School Association president S S Kamath, Shikshaka Shikshana Mahavidlaya Principal S Nagendra Madhyastha, Deputy director of Public Education Department Walter D’Mellow, Moses Jayashekar and others were present.
DIET principal Sipriyan Monterio welcomed while A B Kutinha thanked.

529 science models exhibited:
In the science model exhibition, from Dakshina Kananda district, 282 primary and 247 High school students altogether 529 students will present their science models.
On August 11th and 12th the science models of students from Bantwal, Belthangady, Moodbidri and Puttur block will be exhibited.
On August 13th and 14th, the science models of students from Mangaluru South, Mangaluru North and Sullia areas will be exhibited.
