JR Lobo had entered the State Legislative Assembly for the first time in the year 2013 by defeating the then four-time MLA N Yogish Bhat by a margin of 12,275 votes. He however lost to D Vedavyas Kamath of the BJP in the 2018 elections by a margin of 16,075 votes.
Seventy year old Lobo was instrumental in the implementation of the Rs 750 crore Jalasiri Project, Smart City Project and other projects in the city.
A former KAS Officer, J R Lobo’s full name is John Richard Lobo. He has served as Tahsildar, Assistant Commissioner, MCC Commissioner, KUDCEMP Joint Project Director and as Headquarters Assistant of the DC. After 35 years of service he had opted for voluntary retirement and had plunged into politics.
He has also played a crucial role in the development of Pilikula Nisargadhama.
