Mangaluru, May 13, 2015, dhns:
MLA J R Lobo has assured of providing houses through a residential apartment to the houseless of Bajal (53rd ward) of Mangalore City Corporation. Around 11.2 acres of land has been identified at Kannur for the purpose.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of ‘Jana Samparka Sabhe’ at the Government Primary School of Bajal, he assured of legalising the encroached land used for sites, under 94CC.
There is a need of high school in the ward as many minority families don’t send their girls to the present high school which is far. Development of roads and bus connectivity will be done in the area.
The demands like proper supply and distribution of APL/BPL cards would be met soon, he said.
Problems aplenty
Earlier, Kattapuni residents Imtiyaz alleged that though the village is within the limit of MCC from past 13 years, there is no basic facility like anganwadi.
“We have to pay Rs 480 per annum, but waste management is not being done properly. The corporation has done nothing to control mosquitoes. The high-tension wire which is dangling is a threat in the area. There are no street lamps. Several memorandums have met dust,” he said.
DYFI District Secretary Santhosh Bajal demanded the MLA to extend Kallikatte- Kankanadi bus to State Bank or to provide additional bus. The health sub-centre should be upgraded to Urban Primary Health Centre. The Government Primary School of Bajal should be upgraded as high school. Asphaltation should be done to all interior roads.
Officials should clear a fence put by a family, blocking the Jalligudde- Pakkaladka road, which increases the distance by 13 kms, he said.
Pumpwell work
Lobo was unhappy about the storm water drainage work worth Rs 50 lakh under the two-lane bridge to the Mangaluru- Bengaluru national highway.
The work should have been completed by March as per the agreement.
He directed the contractor to finish at least south portion of the construction work within two months,
Special council meeting
J R Lobo said he would convene a preliminary meeting on May 19 to discuss various development issues. A special meeting on Mangalore City Corporation council will be held on May 23 to pass various projects.
The issues like building baila, finalizing resolution on development of markets, Pumpwell bus stand and second phase of ADB project would be discussed. Meanwhile, he said that UGD is ready everywhere, but distribution of connection is remaining.
“The city corporation should take steps and I have suggested to do it at the earliest,” he said.
