Mangalore: The ‘Kudremukh Tree Park’ which focuses on conserving the endangered trees was launched at Pilikula on Monday.

The project sponsored by the public sector KIOCL Ltd was launched by B. Ramanath Rai, Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment.

Addressing the press on the occasion minister stated “The project aims to conserve rare and threatened species of plants of the tropical forests. The project is aimed to be completed within three years where it will nurture more than 50 rare, threatened and endemic species in this 15-acre park.”

“An amount of Rs. 52 lac is being sponsored by KIOCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme for the project. The trees will be labeled and will be a part of the eco-education at the park” stated Malay Chatterjee, chairman and managing director of KIOCL

J.R. Lobo, MLA and former executive director of the biological park, Ivan D’souza, Member of Legislative Council, A.B Ibrahim, deputy commissioner, Abhay Chandra Jain, minister for Youth Services and Fisheries were also present on the occasion
