Mangalore, Aug 18: Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza gave a call to Christians to fortify their relationships with people from other community and lay emphasis on harmonious coexistence.
He was speaking after inaugurating a symposium on ‘Mangalore Diocese – stepping towards new direction’ held at Rosario Cultural Hall here on Sunday August 17.
Fr Faustine Lobo, director of National Pontifical Mission, gave details on the areas on which the diocese can move ahead. MLA, J R Lobo, who was the chief guest, called upon the community members to be in readiness and show enthusiasm towards serving different areas including politics.
MLC, Ivan D’Souza, narrated about the rights and responsibilities of Christians. On this occasion, secretary of the parish council of the diocese, M P Norohna, who organized the symposium, was honoured.
Addressing the gathering, advocate M P Noronha said he was happy to see the various church representative of Mangalore diocese. He lauded Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza for his immense contribution over the past 18 years, especialy in the field of education.
The programme began with prayer dance. Fr Joseph Martis compered the programme. Parish priest of Rosario Church and secretary of Laymen Commission Fr J B Crasta, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino, vicar general of Mangalore diocese Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, and public relations officer Fr William Menezes were among those present at the programme.
Victoria D’Cunha proposed vote of thanks. John Edward D’Silva hosted the programme.
