Mangalore : The venue of Nehru Maidan reverberated with National Anthem as Mangaloreans got together to celebrated 68th Independence Day celebrations on Friday, August 15.
B.Ramanth Rai, District in-charge Minister and Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology unfurled the national flag.
Mahabala Maarla, Mayor, Mangalore City Corporation, A.B.Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada District, Sharanabasappa, Superintendent of Police,Dakshina Kannada District, Ivan D’Souza, MLC, J R Lobo, MLA, Mangalore South, Nalin Kumar Kateel,MP, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, President,Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishath, Asha ThimappaGowda, President, Zilla Panchayat were present among others.
Ramanath Rai received the guard of honour after the flag was unfurled.
Visual treat was presented by police bands including KSRP, DAR, Traffic, Women Police, Home Guards, Fire Department, NCC Army, NCC Naval, NCC Air Wing etc.
The evening will witness a Police Band Programme at Town Hall followed by cultural programme.
