Mangalore, 20 Aug 2014: Dakshina Kannada district Congress Committee (DCC) celebrated the birth anniversaries of the late PM Rajeev Gandhi and Karnataka former CM the late Devraj Urs at DCC office here on Wednesday August 20.

Speaking on the occasion Mangalore south MLA J R Lobo said the late PM Rajeev and the late Devraj Urs laid emphasis on strengthening Congress party in grass-root level, besides Rajeev gave a major push to national growth, by industrialization.   Devraj brought about legislations to empower poor, downtrodden and backward communities.  He had introduced Land Tribunal Act effectively that enabled the ownership of land to tiller.

The mayor Mahabala Marla said that Rajeev bestowed the voting rights to 18 years, while Devraj was successful in implementing the ideologies of Congress in empowering poor, downtrodden and backward communities.

MLC Ivan D’Souza said that Rajeev was successful in revolutionizing mobile connectivity in India and laid additional emphasis on modern technology.  Devraj strengthened Congress party and introduced Land Tribunal Act to be reckoned as succor of downtrodden.

The Congress leaders Sadashiv Ullal, Kallige Taranat Shetty, Padmanabha Naringana, Suresh Ballal, Dharanindra Kumar, Sasidar Hegde, Appi, T K Sudhir, Farooq Ullal, Nazeer Ullal, S Abbas, Manuraj, Naveen D’Souza, Ramanand Poojary, Ashok D K, Mohan Mendon, Jacinta Alfred, Nagaveni, Bharati B M, Mamata Shenoy, Asha D’Silva, Akhila Alva, Shailaja, Siddiq Pare, Ganesh Gurpur, Nagesh Kambla, Laxmi Nair, Steven Maroli, Hasanabba and others were present on the occasion.
