Speaking to the mediapersons Lobo said that, Lady Goschen hospital is a well equipped hospital with 260 beds and women come from other districts and also from Kerala for delivery. Everyday more than 100 patients come to Lady Goschen. Due to the construction of the new building we have accommodated the patients in the corridor and other places. Everyday more than 70 pregnant women come for admission. Lady Goschen is a well equipped hospital in the state.
He further said that the mortality rate in the district has drastically decreased compared to other districts. The infant mortality rate is less than 5% and maternal mortality is less than 2%. Normally the infant mortality rate is 10 to 22% in other districts but here it is less than 2% and 90% of the infants in the ICU get cured whereas in other districts 90% of the infants in the ICU do not survive. In the entire district Lady Goschen is the only hospital with all the facilities. There is also a blood bank in the hospital with sufficient blood. We have received the permission for Component separation and Minister Veerappa Moily will be inaugurating the Component Separation Block soon.
He also said that various organizations have conducted blood donation camps and collected 600 bottles of blood. “The hospital has a dormitory where more than 200 women can be accommodate overnight. The hospital gives quality service in association of KMC hospital. People from Kerala, Naravi and other districts come here for delivery; Lady Goschen is a model hospital,” he said.

The construction work of the new hospital building is in progress the new hospital building which was supposed to be completed in December due to unavoidable circumstances the work will be completed in June 2015. Once the building is ready, patients will be shifted to the newly built hospital where all facilities will be available.
Lobo also said that from the MLA fund a sum of Rs 15 lakh has been sanctioned for a park for the differently abled children within the Kadri park on the side of the Highway and adjacent to the present children’s park since these children cannot play with other children and their parents also face problems. Within 3 months the park should be completed so that the children can come to the park and spend time with their parents. He also said, “If there is additional financial need, we will arrange from other sources. This park is being made specially for the differently abled children but other children also can come and play in this park”.
