Mangalore, 25 Oct, 2013 : Old Mangalore Port Users’ Association ® thanks Mangalore south MLA J R Lobo in addressing their grievances at the earliest.

The Association staged a walkathon and held a sit-in in front of the office of Old Port authorities a few days ago, urging them to appoint a permanent marine inspector to issue fitness certificates for fishing trawlers. In the absence of marine inspector, Old Port users suffered huge losses because the fisheries business has been shifted to neighbouring states.

MLA Lobo who arrived at the location of agitators assured them resolving their issue within 2 days, but succeeded in just 1 day. The Association issued a media release dated Oct 24 to thank MLA Lobo in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Association urges the fisheries department to clear the silt along the shipping lines at the old port and also solve the drinking water and electricity supply issues from time to time, urged the Association.
