M’lore, 14 Jul, 2014 : As a major step to update itself with transparency and paper free environment the district police dept. distributed the fuel cards called the petro cards today.District in-charge minister B Ramanatha Rai distributed the cards to the police personnel.
In his inaugural speech he said “the discipline is of highest importance in the police department.The police people have to work intelligentlyto create peace and harmony in the society.”
The IGP of western range expressed the importance of conservation of environment today. He said “The technology can be used for good as well as the bad. If utilized it ca create wonders. The use of petro card will lead to decrease the use of paper which in turn will contribute the conservation of the environment.”
The MLA of Puttur constituency appreciated the service of the police personnel.
“Even though the police are the ones to hear the most amount of flak from people, still whenever there is an emergency they keep aside their family matters and serve the community”, she said.
The SP of DK Sharanappa SD explained about the new card.“It will not only brings transparency in the department but also saves a lot of paper and time”, he marked.MLA JR lobo was also present at the occasion.
About the Card
The cards are used to fuel the departmental vehicles in Indian Oil petrol bunks. The district police department will deposit the money and when the personnel swipe the card after fuelling the vehicle, money will be transferred to the account of the bunk owner and thus a lot of paper and time can be saved. Currently 149 police department vehicles can be fuelled in 43 IOC petrol bunks. This will also help in keeping a track of the fuel expenses.
The introduction of the cards in DK is the first in Western Range.
