Mangaluru, March 29: The international direct flight of Jet Airways between Mangaluru and Abu Dhabi took off at 5.50 pm on Sunday March 29th from Mangalore International Airport.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Minister UT Khader, In-charge Minister Abhaychandra Jain, MLA’s J R Lobo, Moideen Bava, MLC Ivan D’Souza,Jet Airways Chief Commercial officer Raj Sivakumar, General Manager Harish Shenoy were present on this occasion.

Chief commercial officer of Jet Airways, Raj Sivakumar, said that the second international flight of Jet Airways is begun from Mangaluru to Abu Dhabi, commercial capital of UAE. Including the domestic flights, all together 10 flights are being operated from Mangaluru.

Jet Airways flight 9W502 will depart from Mangaluru at 1750 hours and arrive at Abu Dhabi at 2020 hours (local time). The return flight 9W501 will depart from Abu Dhabi at 0845 hours (local time) and arrive in Mangaluru at 1345 hours.

The Jet Airways along with strategic partner Etihad Airways undertakes 350 journeys in a week from ten cities of India. Jet in the country and abroad is providing service to 73 places. Jet Airways flight are operating between Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Bangkok, Colombo, Damam, Doha, Dubai, Hongkong, Jeddah, Kuwait, London, Muscat, New York, Paris, Singapore and other countries . 50 flights of Jet Airways are departing to Gulf countries from various destinations.

The airline will deploy Boeing 737-800 Next Generation (NG) aircraft on Mangaluru-Abu Dhabi route.We have 270 flights to UAE per week from various points in India, said Sivakumar.

Already flights are operating from Mangaluru to Mumbai, and Bengaluru. There are plans of providing services to Chennai, and Hyderabad also. Plans are on to begin direct flight to Dammam, and decision will be taken post studying the market, he said.
