Mangaluru, 17 Jan 2017: MLA J R Lobo personally held preliminary survey to lay highway along the shore of Netravati River till Kannur masjid, linking Mangaluru – Bengaluru NH 66, with Mangaluru – Ernakulam NH, by travelling in a boat, here on Monday, January 16. The journey took nearly 3 hours.
Addressing the media persons, MLA Lobo said the four-lane highway will be 50 meters width will be boon for tourism.
He advised PWD and NHAI officials to do the survey, in order to assess how much state-owned land exists and how much river has claimed already, how much private lands needs to be acquired. He also suggested trying to lay the road along the shore, finding alternative route in order safeguard homes.
He urged the officials of PWD, NHAI, municipal body and revenue department to co-ordinate in survey that has been funded by state administration to the tune of Rs 25 lac in submitting the estimate within 2 weeks.
He also urged the group of local residents who gathered at the spot, in order to co-operate with officials in survey work as the project is an ambitious one to promote tourism and will also contribute for further developments in their neighborhood.
The local corporators Praveenchandra Alva and Ashraf Bajal, PWD superintendent engineer Kantaraj, NHAI executive engineer Abdul Rehman, municipal executive engineer Linge Gowda, Ganapati, village accountant Harish, Canute D’Souza, Stany Alvares, Krutin Kumar, Jeevan, Walter Lobo, Rafiq Kannur, Hameed Kannur and others were present.
