Mangaluru: If all goes well, a multi-storeyed bus stand-cum-commercial complex will be open for service in two years.

Mangaluru City Commissioner (MCC) Hephsiba Rani Korlapati conducted spot inspection for setting up a full-fledged bus stand at Pumpwell on January 6.

Korlapati said that the land acquisition process was done five years ago itself. “We intend to have the concept plan ready before the Republic Day. We are looking at making this bus stand as an inter-state transport facility. The MCC is ready to render all the support required.”

Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo and MCC Mayor Mahabala Maarla were also present.
Pitching in for a four-floored building, Lobo opined that three floors could be allotted for bus parking while the top floor will be reserved for parking facility of private vehicles.

Divulging more details, he said that the administration had acquired as much as 7.28 acres land out of which five acres of could be used for the bus stand adding that the rest 2.5 acres comprise hill and canal.

Deputy Commissioner (Administration) Gokul Das Nayak, Corporator Ashok Kumar D K and architects from Interface and Kumarachandra and associates were present among others.
