‘It will help develop social consciousness, patriotism’
To develop strictness, social consciousness, patriotism, respect towards democracy and secularism, there is a need for opening Bharat Sevadal units in every school, MLA J R Lobo said.
Presiding over the inaugural ceremony of taluk-level ‘Bhavaikyata Makkala Mela 2014-15’ organised by Mangaluru taluk unit of Bharat Sevadal, Kuvempu Birth Centenary Government Model Higher Primary School, Nalyapadau at Shaktinagar here on Friday, he said like NSS, NCC, Scouts and Guides, Sevadal should be a part of academics. If there are any technical barriers for extension of Bharat Sevadal, they should be cleared.
“The care what we show on children, plays a greater role in the development of the country,” he said.
Eradicate corruption
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy President Roy Castelino opined that cleaning roads doesn’t mean Swachh Bharat.
India can achieve this only by eradicating corruption, communalism and terrorism, which have become a hindrance for the development of the country, he said and called upon children to love parents, their environment and the mother language which may be Tulu, Konkani or any other.
“Within decades, more than 60 per cent of our population will be youth. Young India will rule the world. So, it is good to develop strictness and service oriented mentality among them,” he said.
Mangaluru taluk unit of Bharat Sevadal Secretary Uday S Kundar said that the taluk unit has organised various programmes from pastfive years related to nature, environment, health, history of National Flag, first-aid etc.
Taluk-level children’s conferences were held four-times and district-level conferences were held twice. To make children model citizens, value education is being taught from this age itself.
Earlier, more than 720 students from 38 schools of the limit participated in a procession. MLA J R Lobo released tri-colour balloon to launch the ceremony.
Bharat Sevadal District President Basheer Baikampady, District Secretary T K Sudheer, Mangaluru President B Prabhakar Sriyan, Corporators Akhila Alva, Sabita Miskit, Mangaluru South BEO M P Jnanesh, Padau Friends Club Vice President Ganesh Kuntalpady, former mayor Abdul Ajeez and others were present.
