Mangalore: “It’s a dream come true. Representing the coastal region, I promise that your demands will be fulfilled. The project which remained pending owing to certain technical problems will now be completed within a short period” said D.V Sadananda Gowda, Union Railway Minister.

He was speaking after laying foundation stone to Padil-Bajal underbridge at Kankanady on Saturday, August 16.

Ramanatha Rai, minister for forest, environment and ecology presided over the function. Mahabala Marla, mayor, Mangalore City Corporation and Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP were the chief guests.

Speaking further he said, “Henceforth the residents living by the bridge will not have to suffer. The top priority will be given to the completion of work. The state government along with MCC will bear major cost of the project. The much waited project will be done by February 2015. Action speaks louder than words and I will try to stand by this statement by fulfilling this dream project.”

“Mangalore Central station will be upgraded with two escalators. Certain trains reaching the major destination from the coastal regions will be renamed. Projects like doubling of Ullal track and digitalization of the railway department will be given the highest priority in my tenure” stated Railway Minister.

MLA J R Lobo, MLCs Capt Ganesh Karnik and Ivan D’Souza, and Asha Thimmappa Gowda, president, Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat were present on the occasion.
