J.R. Lobo, MLA, Mangaluru City South, said on Monday that the government should not go ahead with the Yettinahole integrated project if no comprehensive study on the project’s impact has been carried out by experts. If the government has a report by experts, it should place it before the people at the earliest. Addressing presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Lobo, a former bureaucrat, did not made it clear whether the government could continue with the project if a report by experts was ready with it. He said that if the report was not ready, it should conduct a comprehensive study of environmental impact now.
Asked what would be the use of conducting a study now as work has commenced, the MLA said that earlier the government had said that no reservoirs or weirs would be built under the project.
