MANGALORE: Sexual harassment is a very sensitive issue and teachers should be trained in counseling techniques by experts, said Mangalore South MLA J R Lobo here on Thursday.
He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating a workshop on ‘Safety of Children’ from sexual harassment. The workshop was organized by the Area Education Officer, Mangalore South in collaboration with Gerosa School for the teachers of primary and high school.
Children should be taught moral values. In the contemporary scenario children grow as mechanized robots, but society requires good personalities,” said Lobo.
“Earlier, children used to live in large families; there were people to discuss the problems but in present times it is not so. Children should be taught moral values as they grow older and should feel guilty when they commit any mistake. Now-a-days culprits have no guilt. Educational institutions should put efforts to cultivate moral values among students,” he stressed. Corporator Jacintha Vijay Alfred presided.
On this occasion Rita Fernandis vice president of St Gerosa School Old Students Association, Jnanesh Area Education Officer Mangalore South Region, M Emma Aranha Head Mistress of St Gerosa School and Lakshmi Narayana were present.
