Mangalore,Aug.06: Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo, major Jecintha Alfred, Corporators and corporation officials on Thursday inspected the ongoing renovation work of Town Hall.
After reviewing the work, MLA instructed the officials to ensure that the four contractors as well as the Nirmithi Kendra complete the allotted work by October and inaugurate the renovated hall on Children’s Day (November 14), holding a special program for and by the children.
Nirmithi Kendra has been given the task of completing civil work at an estimated cost of Rs 99 lakhs, which is already started. Rs 60 lakh will be spent on new seats, Rs 98 lakhs for sounds and lighting system, Rs 49 lakhs for electrical and generator and Rs 48 lakhs for the air conditioners. The contractors will start the work in this week and are asked to complete the work by October end, he told the media persons.
He asked the officials to auction the old seats and dispose them at the earliest.
Mayor Jecintha Alfred, corporater Deepak Poojary, Shashidar Hegde, Prakash Salian, Keshva Maroli, Harinath, Ashok DK, TK Sudhir, Denis D’Silva and corporation officials were present.
