Mangalore,Aug 29,2014: The much anticipated project of PM Narendra Modi’s Regime Jan Dhan Project was inaugurated today. The inaugural program of the movement at the district level was held in the town hall of the city today. The Union Social Justice and Empowerment minister Thawar Chand Gehlot inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp.
In his speech, the honourable minister gave the wishes of Ganesha Chaturthy to all the gathered in Thulu. With example of development of Japan he said” After the independence various governments have worked in the launching of various projects for the growth of the nation but it could never be as fast as this one.”
“Through Jan Dhan Yojana the central government will try to bring financial equality and stability to the nation. For the success of this project Government project involvement of the common man is essential along with officials”.
“Lets work together hand in hand and make India a prosperous nation.”
The MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who rendered the first speech of the program marked the project as the revolutionary one. He said “After the Modi regime has come into power there has been a remarkable change in the district. This project is not only a project which wipes the tears of the poor but it has given the prime minister, an affection in everyone’s heart.
The minister for youth affairs and the fisheries, Abhayachandra Jain who spoke on the occasion said “Due to the revolutionary measure of Nationalization of Banks by Indira Gandhi we have been able to see banks going towards the common man. Along with her the then Union finance minister Janardhan Poojary is also responsible for these days when everyone is able to take the benefit of the banking.”
“Our district is called the Educational hub and the Institutional Hub. But due to our banks it also can be called as the Banking Hub”, he added.
The in-charge minister of Dakshina Kannada B Ramanatha Rai promised the co-operation of the state in implementing the project on behalf of the CM Siddharamiah.
He said “After the independence the banks were in the hands of the capitalists. The then Prime minister Indiara Gandhi had to face the opposition of the many while nationalizing the banks. If this was not done then it would not have been possible to implement this project so effectively. “
The dignitaries later on launched the project symbolically by distributing bank documents to 15 account holders in the district. The MLA’s JR Lobo, Angara, MLC’s Ganesh Karnik and Ivan D’souza, DC AB Ibrahim, ZP President Asha Thimmappa Gowda, ZP CEO Thulasi Maddineni, Officers of the various Banks’s were among the present at the occasion.
What is PM Jan Dhan Yojana?
• The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is an ambitious scheme that will provide a host of benefits including a bank account, insurance and a debit card for all. • It is a mega financial inclusion plan under which bank accounts and RuPay debit cards with inbuilt insurance cover of Rs 1 lakh will be provided to crores of persons with no access to formal banking facilities. • The ambitious scheme aims to bring poor people into the ambit of the Government’s financial programme. It will cover both urban and rural areas and those who open account would get Domestic Debit Card (Ru-pay card). • The long term vision of the Jan Dhan Yojana is to lay the foundation of a cashless economy and is complementary to Narendra Modi’s Digital India Scheme.
