MANGALORE: Karavali Utsav, the event that showcases the culture and tradition of the coastal district, will be held on the last Friday of December from next year, said S Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of Dakshina Kannada district unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat.
While addressing a gathering at Karavali Utsav-2014 on Sunday, he said that this year more than 100 troupes will showcase their talents. Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo in his presidential address said, “At present, the festival is limited to only exhibitions. It is not fulfilling its actual objective. To make the utsav more popular and significant, we need to showcase the culture of our district prominently. The district administration should be prepared with a plan of action a year in advance,” the MLA added.
